The name Devdaar comes from Sanskrit — deva meaning divine, and daru meaning timber. The deodar cedar is the sacred tree of the Himalayas, used in ancient temples, revered by sages, and the very tree that canopies our cottage in Uttarkashi. When we chose this name, we were not just choosing a brand — we were choosing an identity rooted in the mountains we call home.
Devdaar Cottage is a family-run property in Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand. We started with a simple belief: that every traveller — whether a Char Dham pilgrim, a Gaumukh trekker, or a family on a Himalayan holiday — deserves a genuine, warm welcome and a clean, comfortable place to rest. No corporate scripts. No cookie-cutter hospitality. Just real people, real food, and real care.
